The North Cascades range has played a huge part in shaping the man I am today. In my youth I discovered a passion for adventure with my cousin Don Beavon on climbing expeditions in these breathtaking mountains east of his home in Seattle. I could not be more proud to be included in a list of very distinguished photographers illustrating Braided River's new book, The North Cascades: Finding Beauty and Renewal in the Wild Nearby.
In addition to beautifully printed large photographs by fellow artists like Art Wolfe, Ethan Welty and Steph Abegg, the book features a rich history of the North Cascades written by Pulitzer Prize winning author William Dietrich as well as his thoughts on the contemporary challenges facing this vast intact ecosystem. Also included are remembrances of grand North Cascade adventures, profiles of the people who have characterized this region and suggestions for your own hikes, paddles, ski-trips, and car-camping in this spectacular Northwest range.
For those of you unfamiliar with Braided River, I invite you to have a look at the mission statement on their website. They are a nonprofit publisher committed to inspiring support for critical conservation efforts. I'm excited to work more with them on future projects.
