I've been going over my 2014 images and picking some favorites. Here's one taken way back on January 2nd with my great friend Rick.
We knocked our way through thick wet blackberry bushes to get to this location. I remember we were set up on tripods next to each other chatting about how much we loved the light and the fog when I saw this group of cormorants flying into my composition and tripped the cable release in mid conversation.
Despite looking like one, this is not a black and white image. The light and the mist that morning created this monotone look. I processed the RAW Nikon D800 file in Adobe's Lightroom 5 and then added the finishing touches in Onone's Perfect Effects by adding dynamic contrast, warming the image up and doing some split toning.
